Gumbo Gaol (ティクゼンニ牢獄, Tikuzenni Rōgoku, Tikuzenni Prison) is a high-tech bunker on Erd in Magical Starsign, built on a hill that overlooks the Forgotten Land.

History[]

When the Espresso civilization colonized Erd over 12800 years ago, Gumbo Gaol was built as a simple house; however, it was repurposed as a prison when Dr. Calzone's robots took over, and has since been used as a facility to turn captured magicians into gummies. The gummified magicians were then consumed by the robots to fuel their batteries.

Walkthrough[]

After the protagonist and Lassi attempt to steal the Neumann ship from Kahve Ruins, they are intercepted by Robot D12S, who paralyzes both of them with an electric punch. The two students wake up in Gumbo Gaol shortly after, but are separated by thick walls and a pit of spikes.

To save Lassi, the protagonist must cast their Light/Dark Wild Magic to lure Securitron into the spike pit, then use its head as a bridge to reach a control panel on the other side. The crashing of the robot wakes Lassi up, and a metal bridge appears in front of her cell. She hides in the corner after believing a robot is coming to harm her, but will calm down when the protagonist arrives and invites her back into the party.

Before the students can leave Gumbo Gaol, Securitron leaps out of the spike pit and attempts to take them down. Its element is Earth, meaning Lassi's Wind Magic is highly effective. Once it is defeated, the duo can safely exit Gumbo Gaol.

Name Origin[]

Gumbo is a stew or soup consisting of stock, shellfish, a thickener, and seasoning vegetables.

Its Japanese name, Tikuzenni, is derived from "chikuzenni" (筑前煮). Chikuzenni is made by frying chicken, carrots, burdock, lotus root, and shiitake mushrooms in oil. These ingredients are then seasoned with sugar and soy sauce before being boiled. It originated from the Chikuzen Province of Japan, hence its name, which literally translates to "Chikuzen Boiled".
